Research Station do Courel
Located in Seoane do Courel, the station is attached to the University of Santiago de Compostela e integrada_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d support network infrastructure research and technological development.
Objectives
Its fundamental objectives are the following:
Promote interdisciplinarity and cooperation between research groups by being conceived as a multidisciplinary center that will support research projects in different areas.
Contribute to the rural development of the region through the development of applied research projects and the generation of a more accessible cultural environment.
Enable better execution and greater scientific profitability of the research projects carried out in the area.
Services
In its 900 square meters, distributed over two floors and under cover, the ECC has a conference room (60 seats), teaching and research laboratories (16 and 8 seats respectively), living and work rooms as well as a residence for 8 researchers . The ground floor houses the classroom and general services, so it can be used independently for all kinds of events.
The ECC is equipped with computer equipment, internet connection and optical material (microscopes and magnifying glasses) for research.
What kind of activities can you host?
The ECC is prepared to host the organization of courses and conferences as well as visits related to teaching activities at different levels. Likewise, the ECC is conceived as a residence for researchers who carry out their work in this environment.
From another perspective, the ECC aims to serve as a dynamic instrument for the region, facilitating institutions, local entities and associations to carry out all kinds of activities.
Caves Interpretation Center
A visit to the Courel caves
The center acts as an interpretive reference for the area, complementing the other existing ones linked to the Geopark . In this we will deal with the caves and their importance. For animals and for humans.
Located in the old and restored school of Meiraos, it is divided into two floors.
In the first we find the location of the main caves found in the territory. Why are they in some places and not in others?
Your occupation. Is there life in these damp, cold and lightless places? Who lives in them? Who lived?
Its shape Is everything you see a cave? Do we see the whole cave or is it the tip of the iceberg?
The second floor is dedicated to the inhabitants of these caves and the uses that are given today.
Humans and cave bears. Did they share space? Did they live in isolation? What was a human-inhabited crow like?
Ethnography and tourism. Canyoning. Are they compatible?

A visit to the geological past of Galicia
The Quiroga Geological Museum (opened in 2011), is the first Galician museum dedicated entirely to the interpretation of geological heritage.
In a space of about 120 square meters, four rooms are distributed that will bring us closer to the geology, paleontology and mining of the region, possibly the most important in Galicia in these aspects.
The first room, "The formation of the territory of Galicia" , analyzes the Campodola-Leixazós fold and includes a sample of the minerals and rocks that are present in the environment.
In the second room, “Paleontological history of Galicia. The evolution of life” , se shows us the different forms of life from 650 million years ago, highlighting the showcases with authentic fossils and the reproduction of the skeleton of a cave bear ( Ursus spelaeus ) .
In the next room, “The ice age (the Pleistocene)” , the importance of glaciation in the formation of the territory is evident and the traces left by the different existing glaciers in the area.
The last room, "The first human occupations" , presents a collection of skulls with which to follow the evolution of the human being, and different panels on the occupation of the territory and the use of tools.

A visit to ethnography
Inaugurated in March 2007, this 600 square meter space is dedicated to recovering, bringing together, disseminating and, therefore, protecting cultural heritage in all its facets. It is divided into thematic rooms:

Mining Museum
A visit to mining y its economic and social significance
Located in the municipality of Ribas de Sil, in San Clodio, it is in the final phase of its construction. It is scheduled to be completed and opened to the public at the end of 2021.
It is a newly constructed building in which the leading role will be for gold and Roman mining. It will have the following contents on a single floor.
